Dear Admin
I stumbled across your website while trying to fix BSOD error 0xc0000098 – corrupted or missing Boot Configuration Data. Using your very informative and helpful information I was able to solve the problem. All other websites I looked at neglected to mention that the traditional fixes offered by Microsoft do not work with a UEFI system. Although quite a complicated (for me!) solution, your step by step instructions and screen grabs helped me to solve the problem. Thank you so much!!

ref. Booting Windows 7/10 from GPT Disk on BIOS (non-UEFI) systems

Hi over there,

following the steps of your tutorial I’ve been able to boot Windows 10
(converted by gptgen.exe to GPT in advance) on an old non-UEFI system (Clevo M57RU).
During installation each and everything went and worked as you described it.

After having restarted Windows (now booting for the first time from the USB-stick)
I made a Windows update (which ran through without problems).

Another restart, and there it was: Windows 10 on GPT! Perfect!

Thank you very much for your really great tutorial!

One question I still have:
Under Windows update, is Windows aware that there are now 2 disks to update
(namely the USB-stick for boot and the GPT disk carrying the system)?

Again thanks.

In your configuration there is a single Windows image located on a GPT disk.
On the USB ыstick there is only a small bootloader. When updating you computer via Windows Update, you update the system image on the GPT disk.

Hello,

I have not seen a Sysadmin website of this quality for a while, I have found excellent answers to my daily problems, you deserve to be in the top 5 of the Google ranking, so I would not have lost my time on average quality websites 🙂 .
Actually i try to find a solution to many O365 authentication issues especially with Outlook that asking for password in an infinity loop and never connect… Sometimes disconnect and connect solve this but sometimes we have to rename the local profile.old and use tricky reg change in order to create a new one. 🙁

You do a fantastic job, congratulations !

Merci beacoup

Fred.

Hello,
Since the last Windows 10 update, I have not been able to use my laptop because it always does this loop: Preparing Automatic Repair … Diagnosing your PC!
None of the options in the Advanced Options worked.
I tried to repair or reinstall Windows 10 from a USB, but it was not successful!
I wanted to know if I can apply the following procedure to resolve my issue: https://woshub.com/how-to-repair-uefi-bootloader-in-windows-8/
Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration.

It appears the site’s certificate is invalid (wrong subject name). When can we expect this fixed?

Hello generous people of WindowsOSHub! Thanks for making all of this info available to us. I have a corrupted USB Flash Drive that is Bitlocker encrypted. I have the password and recovery key. Your article on “Using the BitLocker Repair Tool to Recover Data on Encrypted Drive” at this page [https://woshub.com/data-recovery-on-a-damaged-hard-disk-encrypted-with-bitlocker/] is for hard drives. Do you know how to recover data on an encrypted USB flash drive? When I insert the flash drive into a USB port, it says “Please insert a disk into the USB drive”. Any tips, pointers, or instructions you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you again for everying you’re doing! Best regards – Chris

Is there any reason you guys don’t have an SSL certificate enabling HTTPS? This is one of the last websites I’d expect to have an issue with this lol

Absolutely THE top tech site out there. I just started with core 19 and therefore powershell, this site spooled me up quickly. The Microsoft documentation, while technically correct, just is too much to wade through for a dev like me. I just need the meat and potatoes; this site does just that and very well too. I, frankly, don’t know how you do it, but its amazing. Thanks.
